Facebook has just launched Facebook Places. It will allow Facebook users to check in where they’re at similar to Foursquare. Now, you can have serendipitous meetings with all your friends who live in your area or take Facebook stalking to a whole new level. Check out the video below for more details.

What is Google Wave?

So, most of my friends and family think I am the tech geek.  I heard about google wave a few weeks ago and thought that sounds cool.  I’ll have to look into that.  So, it’s been over 2 weeks now and I know someone is going to be asking me what is this google wave thing so I thought I better get up to par.  After all I’d hate to blow my rep.

Upon first view it looks like just another IM client and I’ve already got Yahoo, and Google Talk, and Skype, and Facebook, and then, and then.  No more and then.  That’s enough!  Then I stumbled upon this guys video.  I like his analogy.  He says Google Wave is what email would look like if it was developed today.  Watch this video for a better idea of what Google Wave has to offer.

There you have it.  Now, you better start asking for that invite.

3 Time Saving Tips for Facebook

When I first started on Facebook last year it was pretty cool getting back in touch with old friends and classmates. I can remember perusing through some of my friends profiles that I hadn’t seen in awhile. I wanted to see what they were up to and how they were doing. Now, when I login to Facebook I have tons of different application requests, just as many Facebook messages as emails and several event invitations. With so much going on there it’s hard to find time to do the actual networking you came to Facebook to do. Here are some tips on how to get the most out of Facebook without spending hours of your week sorting through everything you have got inundated with.

1.Tired of getting trout slapped.  Tired of getting 37 little green patch requests.  You can block applications. Any time you get an application that you are not interested in just hit the block application button instead of ignore. If you ignore it someone else or even the same person can send you another request for the same app that you have already declined. Don’t worry your friends won’t know you blocked their app.
2.We all have that friend or family member that joins everything and tries to get us to join their cause as well. You can even block all requests from an individual. Don’t worry they won’t know you blocked their apps. You can still communicate with them via messaging or wall posts, etc.
3.When asking someone to be your friend that you haven’t seen in a long time add a personal message to demonstrate how you know each other. I can’t recall how many friend invites I have gotten that I can’t remember who they are or how I know them.

Please feel free to keep the Facebook discussion going by sharing your favorite tips for Facebook.

I just started using twitter recently and love the personal touch that it has added to my business.  If you’re like me and don’t like being treated like a number to someone’s business and really want a little personal attention then you should be using twitter.  It’s my goal in 2009 to get to know my friends and customers better and I think twitter is going to be a huge part of that.  It’s no secret that Web 2.0 is quickly taking over the internet and twitter is a great way to stay in touch with friends, colleagues and business associates.  So, learn how to use twitter it is getting huge.  Once your inside make sure to follow me at http://www.twitter.com/tobymiller and introduce yourself to me.  Once your connected to me you’ll get to see all of my tweets about what I am studying as well as what I am doing in my personal life.
